Support the mission of NCI CBIIT by providing project management, requirement gatheting and community outreach, bionformatics tools and algorithm development for several biomedical tools and scientific databases.
The Center for Biomedical Informatics and Information Technology(CBIIT) helps speed scientific discovery and facilitates translational research by building many types of tools and resources that enable information to be shared along the continuum from the scientific bench to the clinical bedside and back.
NCI CBIIT offers critical open-source infrastructure components that others can use to develop valuable databases and software tools to meet specific research needs. NCICB’s expanding suite of tools is built from these foundational components including:
caIntegrator – web-based software package that allows researchers to set up custom web portals integrating heterogeneous clinical, microarray and medical imaging data to enrich multidisciplinary research.
REMBRANDT – bioinformatics framework and Web portal that allows researchers to integrate clinical and functional genomics data from clinical trials involving patients suffering from Gliomas.
ESAC, Inc. provided program management and development support for several Integrative Cancer Research products and databases. Our engagement at NCI included:
Project and Program Management for several tools and scientific databases.
Interacted with the cancer research community to gather their needs and translate them to requirements for cancer cure and support.
Assisted in the analysis of clinical and molecular data from NCI supported studies.
Performed ongoing visits to cancer centers, provide presentations, and work with the community for the needs.
Provided support for the identification and testing of algorithms to support higher order analysis.
Provided data analysis support in leveraging Comparative Marker Selection and other analysis for NCI sponsored studies such as TCGA and CGEMS.
Our knowledge and experience in life sciences and bioinformatics domain combined with project management and community outreach capabilities assisted in the successful development and adaption of key scientific tools and databases.
We are quite impressed with not only by the technical skills provided by ESAC's software engineers but also by the depth and breadth of their subject matter experts who have provided guidance on standards and interoperability, quality assurance, and project management issues.
